Meta announces Notorious BIG VR concert

Meta announced it will host a virtual concert featuring an avatar of Christopher Wallace known as The Notorious BIG. The Notorious BIG Sky’s the Limit concert is set to take place on December 16 and will be viewable in 3D via Meta’s VR goggles or in 2D on the rapper’s Facebook page. The concert honors Wallace, who would have turned 50 this year.

In one post each on Facebook and Instagram the concert was announced by Meta and you can look forward to the Page of Oculus, the company behind the VR glasses and a company from Meta for the event. “The Notorious BIG IS BACK. His music, his flow, his influence are second to none. Experience it like you’ve never seen it before in a recreation of ’90s Brooklyn (The Brook) in Meta Horizon Worlds. Experience him in a unique VR concert experience that has never been seen before.” This is followed by a list of other stars set to be a part of the show, including Sean “Diddy” Combs, Latto and Nardo Wick.

“The possibility of my son Christopher’s music being showcased through advances in technology is sometimes difficult for me to grasp,” said Voletta Wallace, the rapper’s mother, of the project. “However, I found so much joy in developing his avatar and I understand what it means for fans to be able to experience him in a way that was previously unattainable. Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality.”

The title “The Notorious BIG Sky’s the Limit” is a reference to his song “Sky’s the Limit” which appeared on LIFE AFTER DEATH in 1997. The album was recorded in its entirety shortly before Christopher Wallace was murdered on March 9, 1997, but was only released afterwards on March 23.
