Messe Frankfurt presents a new concept for the Neonyt

The sustainable fashion fair Neonyt gets a new concept – and moves again. The future plans for the event, which took place in Berlin until January 2020, were presented by the parent company Messe Frankfurt on Thursday. Accordingly, in the coming winter season, Neonyt is to take place as a B2B event from January 28 to 30 at the same time as the Fashn Rooms order platform in Düsseldorf. The specialist conference Fashionsustain will then also be held in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital, the trade fair company explained.

In the future, Neonyt will be organized as a “licensed event”, explained Messe Frankfurt. The Düsseldorf trade fair company Igedo Company has been won as a partner. “With immediate effect, Igedo will take over the full operational planning and implementation of Neonyt for the Düsseldorf location,” says a statement. An “international roll-out of the event” is also planned as part of the new model.

It is another strategic U-turn for the leading trade fair in the field of sustainable fashion. After Neonyt celebrated success in Berlin, it was to form the heart of the “Frankfurt Fashion Week” in the Main metropolis together with the Premium Group trade fairs, which were also brought from the capital. But in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, which prevented face-to-face events for several seasons, the ambitious project fell through: The Premium Group canceled its plans to move in spring and celebrated the return of its Premium and Seek trade fairs to Berlin in July.

“Strengthening of Düsseldorf as a fashion location”: In future, Neonyt will be organized by license partner Igedo Company

“We are very pleased to have won the Igedo Company for a cooperation,” said Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, in a statement. “Neonyt and its cross-sector community are in good company in Düsseldorf and the trade fair landscape as well as the sustainable textile and fashion scene will benefit from this – this is where know-how and professionalism meet innovative spirit and consistency.”

In Düsseldorf, Neonyt will in future “be part of an internationally successful mix consisting of around 600 international brands,” explained the trade fair company. The “strictly sustainable range” of the fair “will find a new home next to the fashion rooms segments agencies & premium brands (showroom concept), avant-garde, design & contemporary as well as accessories and shoes”.

Ulrike Kähler (Managing Director) and Philipp Kronen (Managing Partner) from the Igedo Company welcomed the new partnership: “Of course we are also very pleased that we can intensively accompany and support the next development step of Neonyt. At the same time, this also means an additional strengthening of Düsseldorf as a fashion location and also shows the undisputed esteem in which the Igedo Company enjoys in the industry even in its 73-year existence,” they explained in a joint statement. “Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and do everything in our power to achieve Neonyt’s next goals here in Düsseldorf.”

The end customer event “Neonyt Lab” is to continue to take place in Frankfurt

Even after the restart of the trade fair in Düsseldorf, the “Neonyt Lab” format, which is accessible to end consumers and which celebrated its premiere in Frankfurt a few weeks ago, will be retained. “The success that visitors from 22 countries attested to the first direct-to-consumer (D2C) event ‘Neonyt Lab’ in June 2022 makes Messe Frankfurt positive for further events of this kind at their home location,” explained the trade fair company. The “internationalization of the brand and the future B2B presence of Neonyt in Düsseldorf” therefore “by no means result in a lack of commitment in Frankfurt”.
