The 35-year-old footballer has played for Napoli for nine years since his transfer from PSV and has scored 146 goals in 396 games. He eventually became Napoli’s all-time top scorer, but the club management decided not to renew his expiring contract. It is not yet known where he will continue his career.
Mertens says goodbye to the fans of Napoli on social media. In an emotional video, he thanks his fellow townspeople and lets them know that he will keep his home in Naples. “So that I can always return to my home.
