The difference between the Silver Arrow drivers was only 0.068 seconds.
Mercedes was in big trouble in the last part of qualifying. In the end, however, the team conquered the front row.
– We made some changes to the car. We still need to check that they went in the right direction, Russell said.
– The last round came out of nowhere. It’s a great feeling when everything works out after such a difficult stage and you jump to the top of the leaderboard in the last lap. It’s epic.
Respectively Valtteri Bottas the road rose immediately after the first part of qualifying. Nastolalainen was clearly the slowest driver when the Results List of the opening part was finished.
Bottas fell to a driving error on the last move. He locked his bike during the braking of the first corner and thus was unable to improve his time.
According to meteorologists, there is a 40 percent chance of rain in Sunday’s race. In addition, the temperature will be around 11–12 degrees.
That’s why some garages already adjusted their cars for wet and cold weather. Russell admitted Mercedes was one of them.
– Kimi was more competitive than me. We weren’t so clearly ahead of the others as we were on Friday, he admitted.
