In the derby against FC St. Pauli, the HSV experienced an extremely bitter evening in front of its own audience. The frustration with the team and trainer is great.

The Bundesliga comeback in its own Volkspark had imagined Hamburger SV Anders. In the emotionally charged city duel against FC St. Pauli, the “red pants” remained without scoring – and without points. The 0: 2 against the self -confident rival relentlessly draws open how rocky the way to stay in the league should be.

Yussuf Poulsen became clear after the game. There were many good things, said the new HSV captain, “but we can’t buy anything for that, it’s just shit”. The team came forward well in the game. “Until the decisive pass,” Poulsen restricted. “We have to work on that.”

Coach Merlin Polzin also found clear words after the first Bundesliga home game for more than seven years. He recognized approaches “how we can play football in the first division,” said the 34-year-old at first, but they also played against a very good team. “I am very disappointed that we have to live with the 0: 2. That vomits us,” said Polzin.

The HSV had little to oppose the clarified appearance of the city rival. According to Polzin, the club is still “in a process”. The difference between the first and second division is “immensely”.

Despite the defeat, Polzin paid respect to the opponent. One can recognize what good work at FC St. Pauli was done, said Hamburg -born. The way is something “in which many teams can learn something”. Polzin also made it clear: “We were not in the first division for seven years and do not want to define ourselves about a romance, but through content that helps us to be successful.”
