Scheperkamp had to make up a margin of 1.87 seconds over De Boo in the final 1000 meters. That didn’t work, the difference was even increased (to 2.43 seconds). A positive aspect of his second place behind the Dutch champion is that Scheperkamp is going to the European Sprint Championships. The best three sprinters of the National Championships have qualified for this. That tournament will be held on January 10 and 11 in Thialf.

Earlier on Sunday, Mats van den Bos rode to second place in the 500 meters, just like on Saturday. He could no longer play a significant role after a crash in the first 1000 meters on Saturday and finished eighteenth in the general classification.
