Merel ten Boom (24) had her birth certificate changed in July 2021. Since then she has been registered as a woman and has this first name.
She is in transition and has been taking hormonal pills on a doctor’s prescription since March 2021. The resident of Leeuwarden does not welcome it, but understands that more and more young trans people are turning to risky ‘Do It Yourself’ medication because of high waiting times in care. Why?
