Mercedes hopes to adapt the car in Miami after a dramatic World Cup start | formula 1

Mercedes has so far failed to build a fast car for this season in Formula 1. The German racing stable, which has dominated the past eight seasons and also won the constructors’ title last year, has misinterpreted the new aerodynamics rules. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton finished thirteenth in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix last Sunday after having been lapped earlier in the race by Max Verstappen.

“Hopefully soon, maybe already in Miami, we can make some new adjustments to the car that will hopefully give us an indication of whether we are heading in the right direction,” said Shovlin. “We don’t expect to solve this problem overnight, but we can get a sign that we’re moving in the right direction and getting to the heart of what’s wrong.”
