Mercedes brings back the Silver Arrows

Mercedes will soon be shining in silver again! The Formula 1 racing team drove in an unusually black paint job for two years. According to our information, Vice-World Champion Lewis Hamilton’s team will return to the old traditional color in the coming season.

Initially, the “Bild” reported about it. The change to black was initiated by Lewis Hamilton in 2020 and was intended to draw attention to the fight against racism and for more diversity.

The myth of the Silver Arrows began in 1934 with the W 25 model. In 2020 and 2021, however, the constructors’ world champion appeared in a new guise. Now it’s back to the old roots.

Color secondary to Hamilton

The renewed change is not surprising: As early as 2020, team boss Toto Wolff had announced that the color change would probably be designed for two years. In interviews, Hamilton also made it clear that the color of his racer was not a priority for him.

“It doesn’t change the changes we’re making internally,” said Hamilton last year. “We have a good program, so do it [die Lackierung] no difference. “When he last renewed his contract, the Briton and Mercedes set up a joint foundation. It is supposed to ensure more diversity and inclusion in motorsport.

Hamilton remains silent

Whether Hamilton will return to the Silver Arrow himself is currently being hotly debated. Since the controversial season finale in Abu Dhabi, the dethroned champion has not made any official statements, instead clearing his Insta profile. Ex-F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone raved about his resignation. Hamilton brother Nicolas recently reassured: “Lewis just needs a social media break.”

If he’s right, we’ll see Hamilton back in the Silver Arrow in 2022. He won five titles (2014, 2015, 2017 – 2019) in a traditional Mercedes.
