Associations, foundations, social and church institutions in the municipality of Meppel receive financial aid because of the high inflation and rising energy costs. The municipality comes with a support fund of 250,000 euros.
That money is not only intended for inflation and energy costs, but also for investments in sustainability. The support fund is a wish of the city council. All parties asked for a jar of money to be made available for this and the municipality is now complying.
This is not a new investment for the municipality. The money comes from another expense: corona. This money was still gathering dust and it is expected that it will no longer be used for corona.
The municipality hopes that the first applications for this support fund will be approved at the end of April.
