Meppel is getting a new swimming pool. All local politics is in favor of that. It will probably cost around 35 million euros.
“This is a super important step for Meppel and for the region,” says swimming pool director Edwin Koelink. “We had cake with the staff this morning. So we are really celebrating.”
The other option, extensively renovating the current Bad Hesselingen for almost 12 million euros, has therefore been eliminated. What the new swimming pool will look like will be determined later by the municipal council in Meppel. This concerns, for example, how many competition lanes the swimming pool will have, whether there will be a recreational pool and how large it will be. The same applies to a children’s, toddler and toddler pool. The choice of the location of the new pool will also follow later.
