Mentoring program for women at TH Lübeck enters the next round

Further development, networking events, workshops: The one-year mentoring program for all women at TH Lübeck will start in December 2023. It has three components: the tandem relationship with self-organized meetings with the mentors, informal networking events with other mentees and optional workshops on key competencies. The program supports all women who are interested in their further development on both a personal and professional level.

Sharpen your personal profile, reflect on individual core competencies

In the workshops, the participants learned, for example, how to network strategically. The mentees of the 2023 program learned from the neurobiologist and trainer Dr. Juliane Handschuh how they sharpen their personal profile and how they discuss and reflect on their individual core competencies for their own professional and personal development.
How to approach networking activities can be designed very individually: “Even introverts, for example, can network successfully because they often have strengths that others don’t have. They listen carefully and pick up details that other people might not notice,” says Dr. Juliane Mitten.

Informal networking events

Organizing workshops and tandem meetings between mentee and mentor is one side of the program’s coin. On the other hand, informal network meetings help to expand personal contacts and gain insider knowledge. The Equal Opportunities Office of the TH Lübeck organizes regular informal network meetings for this purpose. At the “Prof:Me Bergfest” in mid-July 2023, mentees and mentors from previous years came together to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.

Aha moments for your career

All interested women at TH Lübeck can apply for the new mentoring round 2024 until October 16th. Women who are potentially interested in a professorship from outside the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences are also welcome as mentees. One mentee sums up her experiences: “Two aha moments from the mentoring program stand out for me: At the beginning of the year, I worked with my mentor to draw up a map of a career path, on which I located the current point in my career, but was also able to identify where I would like to develop further.” or a continuing education certificate.
