Due to too many shooting errors, the German men’s relay missed a podium finish at the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding. Erik Lesser, Johannes Kühn, Arnd Peiffer and Benedikt Doll finished fifth on Friday after 4 x 7.5 kilometers. After three penalties and nine spare rounds, the World Relay Champion was 1:51.4 behind the victorious Norwegians. In front of 13,500 spectators, Olympic champion Russia finished second ahead of Austria. The German relay team also finished fifth in the first relay race of the season in Hochfilzen in mid-December.
