The Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz have made a mega trade. Among other things, star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is moving to Utah. Shams Charania by ESPN first reported on the exchange transactions on Tuesday.

A total of eight players are involved in the trade. In addition to Jackson Jr., John Konchar (shooting guard), Jock Landale (power forward) and Vince Williams Jr. (shooting guard) join the Jazz. In return, Memphis will receive Walter Clayton Jr. (point guard), Taylor Hendricks (power forward), Kyle Anderson (small forward), Georges Niang (power forward) and three first-round picks for the future.

There was no indication that Jackson Jr. would be traded, and there were no recent rumors about a move or such intentions from the 26-year-old. One thing is clear: the Jazz have landed a big fish. The American was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and was nominated for the All-Star Game in the same year and in 2025.

This season, the forward’s performance in Memphis has flattened slightly in terms of numbers, but he also takes fewer throws compared to last year. In 45 appearances, the big man has a points average of 19.2 as well as 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Ja Morant has actually been one of the most hotly debated personalities on the market these days. The Grizzlies are said to be ready to sell the point guard, but have not yet found a suitable buyer. If there is any movement, it would have to happen by the trade deadline on February 5th.
