Martien Meiland and his family are again in discussions with SBS 6 about a continuation of their TV future, reports channel prominent Johan Derksen. “That really shouldn’t come out yet.”
It raised eyebrows when the Meilandjes announced their TV exit last year, because Chateau Meiland’s viewing figures were still excellent and they come across as people who love attention. Many critics agreed: it must be a negotiating tactic. An attempt to cash in much more with a new contract.
In conversation with John
It is unclear whether the Meilandjes have received attractive offers since their contract expired; at least we haven’t heard anything about it. This week they participated in the recording of the new Johnny de Mol show I’ve Got The Music In Me. In this they compete against John de Bever and his attention-hungry husband Kees de Bever.
Johan Derksen now sets Today Inside – his source is probably good friend John de Bever – that the Meilandjes then talked to Johnny’s father John de Mol, the boss of Talpa.
Deepest secret
According to Johan, the conversations took place in complete secrecy. “The Meilandjes had a secret conversation with John de Mol this afternoon, because of course the Meilandjes don’t want to stop at all, do they?”
Wilfred Genee: “No, they probably just want to make some more money.”
Johan: “They just want more money, yes.”
Getting by
Wilfred wonders whether that will be okay. “And that will happen now, do you think?”
Johan: “Well, I have no idea, because it wasn’t allowed to come out, but I heard that by chance.”
Wilfred: “Yes, as John de Mol’s right-hand man you have not been doing well lately. Of course, that is not possible with these types of texts.”
Johan: “No, but since John took the music away from me, I’ve been a bit resentful.”

John doesn’t want music in VI, because that would cost viewers. Wilfred: “Oh, so what you’re doing here is actually a taste of your own medicine? As soon as the music comes back, you’ll go back a bit…”
Johan: “It’s your own fault, isn’t it?”
Bar guest Raymond Mens: “I have to say that I would like it if they came back, because I really enjoyed watching it.”
