The SBS 6 hit Chateau Bijstand has seen the competition from NPO 1 weaken in recent weeks now that Radar is alternated with Kassa. The latter program attracts a lot less attention, as a result of which the Meilandjes have been able to take gold at prime time for two weeks in a row. Yesterday their show scored 955 thousand viewers (21% market share).

Girls in panic

These nearly one million viewers saw Erica and Maxime Meiland quite panicked about a large spider in the stairwell. Erica fears that the spider has come out of the banana boxes, which she uses as a bed. “The rest of the evening I thought: shit, I’m lying on those banana boxes, but I didn’t look at that at all.”

Erica decides to throw the banana boxes out of her bedroom: “I just put down eight boxes with my mattress on it. You’ll only suddenly feel this at night, you know (imitating a spider that walks across her face, ed.), so I was screwing myself up a bit and I thought: you know what I’m doing? I’m going to blow all those boxes down.”
