NoThere is nothing better, he writes Meghan Markle in the newsletter of As Ever, its commercial brand, of transforming a daily ritual, such as that of a cup of tea, into a «silent invitation to slow down the pace. The true tea moment is not about perfection, but about presence.”

Meghan Markle’s advice for a Royal tea

The Duchess of Sussex, who will be in London next July with her husband Harry and children Archie and Lilibetexplains in detail how to create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy tea: «Start from the table: well-kept but not too crowded. A softly lit candle, carefully folded napkins and a selection of teas ready for infusion.”

With milk or with lemon? Meghan offers both

The preparation doesn’t end here. «Follow some traditions: heat the teapot, pour carefully, offer milk or lemon. Add something sweet: maybe a teaspoon of strawberry jam on a croissant. Then, let the conversation flow slowly until the last cup.”

Why is Meghan talking about tea now?

However, Markle’s enthusiasm for the very English one cuppa, traditional nickname given by the British to their inevitable cup of tea, has not found the hoped-for sympathy online. The duchess has been criticized for exploiting one of the rituals most associated with the royal family, and in particular with Queen Elizabeth. Do you perhaps feel a little nostalgic for the life at court you abandoned six years ago? Or are you preparing for a visit to London next summer?

Social media accuses her: «She remained at the time of her blog»

Meghan remained anchored to the past, critics say, referring to her own famous blog The Tig, which ceased operations in 2016, when the former actress met Harry. “It doesn’t say anything new,” adds another non-fan. “He clings to everything, even the rites of that Royal life that he rejected.” And finally: “How have we done so far, without a Meghan who insists on teaching us the simplest and least creative things ever?”.

Meghan Markle’s tea products

In a post from a few weeks ago, Meghan had launched some products which, coincidentally, are well suited to the tea ritual. A set that bears the name of When the Day Slows (when the day slows down) and which includes two types of candles, a karkadè herbal tea and a ginger and lemon infusion (cost: around 150 euros).
