Megan Thee Stallion is on the mend after suffering from “extreme exhaustion” during a performance of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway. This was announced by a spokesman for the rapper ROLLING STONE. Her condition forced her to stop the performance midway and go to the hospital.
“On Tuesday evening, Megan was taken to a nearby hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after exhibiting concerning symptoms,” her rep told Rolling Stone. “The doctors ultimately determined extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic values as the cause of her symptoms.”
The rapper has “since been treated and released and is now recovering,” the spokesperson added.
Hospital in the middle of the show
Megan became increasingly ill during the Tuesday night performance of the hit Broadway play. Her rep told Rolling Stone at the time that she was “immediately taken to a nearby hospital where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.”
While little information was initially known about her hospitalization, the Grammy winner’s hairstylist Kellon Deryck wrote in a separate X-post shortly after the incident: “Everyone pray for Megan, we are all in the hospital.”
In February, Megan announced that she would be joining the cast of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway, taking on the role of Moulin Rouge owner and emcee Zidler. Her involvement in the production began on March 24th and runs through May 17th.
Scheduled to return on Thursday
“I have always believed in challenging myself creatively,” Megan Thee Stallion said of her role in a statement to The New York Times. “Theater is definitely a new opportunity that I embrace with enthusiasm.”
She added: “Broadway requires a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling – but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the hotties to see a new side of me.”
On Wednesday, Megan’s rep said she is scheduled to return to the stage this week. “Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well wishes of her fans and looks forward to reprising her role as Zidler in ‘Moulin Rouge’ on Thursday.”
