The misconduct of its fans is costing Hamburger SV dearly. The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has imposed eight fines totaling 503,400 euros on the Bundesliga club due to unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of its supporters.
The association can use up to 167,500 euros of this for its own security or violence prevention measures.
Most of the penalty is due to the northern derby against Werder Bremen in December 2025. The HSV fans lit 78 Bengal fires, 51 indicators and five smoke pots. In addition, shortly before the start of the second half, they fired four batteries with at least 80 smoke rockets, plastic caps of which landed on the field.
The restart was delayed by almost eight minutes. A fine of 300,000 euros was imposed for the incidents.
