Media: Second division striker Hofmann before moving to Bochum

Bochum/Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) – Second division striker Philipp Hofmann is apparently about to switch from Karlsruher SC to Bundesliga club VfL Bochum. This is reported by several media unanimously.

According to information from “WAZ”, the 29-year-old has already signed a contract in Bochum. However, this will only be valid if VfL has also mathematically secured its relegation.

“We have taken note of the report,” said KSC sports director Oliver Kreuzer of the German Press Agency on the reports on the goalscorer’s farewell. “But I still trust his word and that of his agency that we will be informed immediately as soon as a signature is due.”

Hofmann, who shared second place in the second division top scorer list with 17 goals, would be a free transfer. The Bochum team were already courting him last year, but refrained from signing because of the transfer fee. It would be a return home for the former U21 international. He grew up in Arnsberg in the Sauerland region, around 70 kilometers from Bochum, and trained with FC Schalke 04 when he was young. He then played for SC Paderborn, FC Ingolstadt, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, FC Brentford, SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Eintracht Braunschweig.
