Medemblik gets a new international sailing event after departure from regatta

Medemblik gets after a new international sailing event: the High Performance Regatta. A series of competitions for spectacular sailing sports. It will replace the Regatta that will move to Almere after 36 years.

The Medemblik sports alderman Joset Fit and top sports coordinator Team Medemblik Pieter Increases are delighted with the arrival of the event, which will be held from 10 to 12 June and will return every year.

Sailservice will organize the High Performance Regatta with the support of the municipality and the province of North Holland. High Performance sailing therefore focuses on more spectacular sailing competitions. It already has events such as the America’s Cup, the Extreme 40 and the Volvo Ocean Race. The facilities in Medemblik and the IJsselmeer are very suitable for this type of sailing.

For example, organizer Alex Hoeve says: “It must be a pleasure for the sailors to come to Medemblik and to know that you have nothing to worry about. Fortunately, we have a lot of experience in organizing sailing events in Medemblik. And, it is for to follow the audience well from the side.”

The following classes will be featured at the event: 29er, 49er, 49erFX, KiteFoil, Nacra15, Nacra17, WASZP, and WindFoil. Casper Bouman, coach of the KiteFoil TeamNL, is happy: “It is good to be able to participate in an international event with a wide selection, so that you can prepare your team for the world top!”
