Extra boas and compensation for entrepreneurs from Ter Apel and the municipality of Emmen who have suffered damage from so-called safelanders. These are measures that outgoing minister Mona Keijzer (BBB) announced today in Ter Apel after a visit to the village.
Mayor Eric van Oosterhout of the neighboring municipality of Emmen is happy with the measures, but is not cheering too early: “First see, then believe.”
After months of insistence, Keijzer today visited the asylum seeker center in Ter Apel and visited the village. The problems in Nieuw-Weerdinge, which is a little further away, were also discussed. Keijzer spoke with mayor Van Oosterhout and village chairman of Nieuw-Weerdinge Wim Katoen about this nuisance.
For example, agreements have been made about the use of additional boas. “Keijzer wants to make money available for this, so that we also have extra supervision in Drenthe,” Van Oosterhout explains. In addition, Keijzer wants to work on compensation not only for entrepreneurs from Ter Apel, but also for entrepreneurs in the municipality of Emmen.
Keijzer also wants to significantly reduce the group of safelanders in Ter Apel to fewer than 100 and spread the remaining group among other asylum seekers’ centers in the Netherlands. There will also be extra deployment from the Aliens Police.
The measures will take effect shortly. “It should be arranged within one or two months,” says Van Oosterhout. Keijzer does add a comment. “The compensation scheme will also apply to entrepreneurs along the walking path of the municipality of Emmen, but I need a little longer for this measure,” says Keijzer.
