“Maybe five hours last night”

Krista Pärmäkoski’s tank was empty on Sunday and her phone was blocked.

Krista Pärmäkoski and Kerttu Niskanen missed the quarterfinals when the Lahti World Cup culminated in free sprints on Sunday. Pärmäkoski was 17th in the final results, Niskanen 22nd.

For Pärmäkoski, the competition was the third in three days. He vented on Monday Johanna Matintalo with the second place in the pair relay and on Saturday a victory in 20 kilometers.

– Saturday took quite a long time. I got maybe five hours of sleep last night. I had to dig a banana and then a bar. I was so terribly hungry, even though I tried to eat, he said.

On Sunday, the tiredness took its toll. Pärmäkoski kept watch until half past two on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

– I woke up at five in the morning and tried to spin. The dog was nervous that you didn’t sleep at all. I was able to sleep for hours or a half in the morning, Pärmäkoski laughed.

Will the career continue?

The victory of the 20 km traditional race tasted even better on Sunday than the day before. There have been enough congratulators.

– The phone is completely blocked. I haven’t had time to read or respond to all of them. It’s great that so many foreigners came to congratulate.

– I have received messages from current competitors. Those who are not here now have approached via social media. Foreigners and coaches have also been happy about my victory.

Head coach of the Finnish national team Teemu Pasanen joked on Saturday that after the victory, Pärmäkoski might feel like continuing his career. Suomalaistahtih has been cultivating termination speeches all year round.

No decision has been made. Next year we will compete again for World Cup medals

– I haven’t thought about comparing it at all. We’ll see at some point, says Pärmäkoski.

Norway won the sprint on Sunday Kristine Skistad.
