Maxime Meiland is really fed up with the constant criticism. She doesn’t like it, although she does wonder if she really has that many haters. “The viewing figures are good.”

She is by far the least loved member of the Meiland television family: daughter Maxime. In particular, her spoiled behavior, her complaining and her vague dealings in AliExpress junk arouse annoyance among people. “It is not fun. I sometimes think: leave me alone for a while,” she says in the Party magazine.

Maxime thinks it’s time to put an end to all that criticism. “I have the idea that I’m always a bit of a jerk, so to speak. I often get reactions like: she’s spoiled and this and that. But it is part of it.”

Yet Maxime wonders how many people find her really annoying. “How many people think that? I don’t think much in the end, because if you look at the ratings, people really like it all.”

‘Take it or leave it’

Maxime agrees that she sometimes comes across as grumpy. “When I see myself again, I sometimes think: can’t I laugh a little more? But you are who you are. Take it or leave it.”

Most people can appreciate it all, Maxime thinks. “I mainly want to amuse the people who watch Chateau Meiland, make them laugh.”

That often works, she says. “I really enjoy it when people say: ‘When I look at you, I am completely immersed in the Meiland world. I am then relaxing and enjoying. And I recognize things. It looks so nice.’ That is a very big compliment.”

“I like that, because we just do our thing.”
