The Fürth team tried to seize the initiative from the start in the hot summer temperatures, but couldn’t get any shots. All in all, the 9,000 spectators in the Ronhof sports park didn’t see a good game in the first half. Both teams lacked determination, mostly it was piecemeal. Numerous duels and fouls hampered the flow of the game, standards fizzled out harmlessly.

Gates out of the blue

It didn’t get any better in the second half. Both teams lacked confidence and were particularly concerned about not making mistakes.

The opening goal for the Franks then fell out of the blue. KSC was unable to clear an attack by Fürth that had already failed, and the “cloverleaf” came into the penalty area via Branimir Hrgota and Ache. The latter just took off and scored.

The lead didn’t last long. In the Fürth penalty area, Oussema Haddadi received a ball from Wanitzek from one and a half meters while turning away. According to the video images, referee Arne Aarnink awarded a penalty, which Wanitzek converted. Another goal by the midfielder was disallowed in the 79th minute due to an offside position.

Fürth has to go to Düsseldorf

In the somewhat hectic final phase, both teams played more forward, but were then satisfied with the point sharing. For the guests from Baden, the 1-1 meant the first point win, Fürth only has one point more on the account.

Fürth travels to Düsseldorf on the 4th matchday on Sunday (14.08.2022), Karlsruhe plays against Sandhausen the day before.
