TV presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has signed a four-year contract with RTL. RTL confirms this according to the ANP news agency. Van Nieuwkerk will be going from April according to it A.D presenting a weekly program on Sundays with music and a review of the week.

Van Nieuwkerk presented the well-known program De Wereld Draait Door for many years. Last year he was discredited de Volkskrant reported on inappropriate behavior that the presenter displayed behind the scenes. The public broadcaster started an investigation into working conditions, other programs continued without Van Nieuwkerk and NPO director Frans Klein left.
Van Nieuwkerk spoke out in September NRC for the first time about the allegations. “I didn’t know it was so serious for some people,” he said in the interview about the dozens of burnouts among DWDD employees. When asked whether the program was worth the damaged employees: “This question has been bothering me since the article appeared. […] The answer is: of course not.”
