Matthew Perry has revealed that the counselors at the rehab clinic tried to prevent him from entering the hospital, says Daily Mail. According to Perry, the rehabilitation clinic used pain as an excuse to get painkillers from the hospital.

Perry eventually made it to the hospital, but his problems didn’t end there.

The actor fell into a coma, fell ill with pneumonia and his colon is described as having “exploded”.

The hospital Perry was in did not have the necessary equipment to treat him. Perry needed an EMCO device to recover, but it wasn’t available. Neighboring clinics also refused to accept him because of his reputation.

Finally a hospital was found, where an EMCO device and help were found. Perry spent six weeks in the heart and lung intensive care unit. In total, Matthew had to undergo 14 abdominal surgeries.
