Top club targets ex-Bundesliga coach

An interim coach has taken over at Real Sociedad for the time being. Behind the scenes, however, discussions are already underway with well-known candidates.
Spanish first division club Real Sociedad is currently looking for a new head coach. As Spanish media report, two former Bundesliga coaches have come into focus: Pellegrino Matarazzo and Marco Rose.
Accordingly, Matarazzo is currently considered the most promising candidate. The 48-year-old American, who most recently worked at TSG Hoffenheim and before that at VfB Stuttgart, is said to have already reached a verbal agreement with those responsible. An official announcement of his commitment is reportedly imminent. It would be Matarazzo’s first stop abroad.
If the Basques reorient themselves, Matarazzo will be in prominent competition. Marco Rose, the former coach of BVB and RB Leipzig, was long considered a dream solution, but is said to be difficult to implement financially.
The club from San Sebastián parted ways with previous coach Sergio Francisco last Sunday – after a disappointing record of 16 points from as many games. Ion Ansotegi will initially take on responsibility in the coaching bench.
