Chaos suddenly arise around 70 kilometers before the finish. Guilt: The adverse conditions. It is not just a German that hits hard.
A mass crash on the native street has overshadowed the sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia. It was particularly difficult for the former Giro winner Jai Hindley and the German cyclist Juri Hollmann-both had to give up the race.
The peloton got into chaos around 70 kilometers before the finish in Naples: numerous drivers plunged on the slippery asphalt. One of the hard test was Hindley. The Australian from the German Red Bull team, Giro winner from 2022, left the ambulance under visible pain.
Hollmann could not continue. As his team Alpecin-Deceuninck announced, he suspected of a broken arm.
After the incident, the race was initially interrupted. After talks with the drivers, the jury decided to neutralize the stage. There were neither points nor timing. The same time was credited to all drivers for the overall ranking, which was applied at the time of the accident.
In addition to Hindley and Hollmann, other well -known drivers also plunged. Richard Carapaz, Olympic champion of Tokyo, and Mads Pedersen, who has already won three stages at the Giro, were also involved. Both were able to continue the race.
