His real name was Marvin Pentz Gay Jr. In biographies and rock encyclopedias he is often called the “original love man”. A nice euphemism for someone who scored some of his biggest hits with odes to jealousy (“I Heard It Through The Grapevine”) and earthly love (“Sexual Healing”). He was considered a womanizer anyway…
