Olympic champion makes a relationship public – after twelve years

Sthlet running star Martina Sáblíková gives a rare insight into her private life. She shared a picture of her great love on Instagram.
Martina Sáblíková gave an insight into a really private area of her life for the first time. The 37-year-old confirmed her love for 29-year-old Niky Zdráhalová. The two Czech ice skaters have been a couple for more than 12 years.
However, she apparently did not prize this news voluntarily. Sáblíková shared an intimate photo with her life partner on Instagram and wrote: “You know that I always kept my private life privately – and that won’t change either, because that is really important to me. But lately I have had the feeling that some people have tried to speak in my name, and that became a little too much for me”. Niky Zdráhalová was her “rock in the surf,” wrote Sáblíková. “We are happy and we have been sharing a good life together for over twelve years.”
In recent years, both had shared photos together on their profiles – including on bike tours. So far, they had not made their relationship public.
Sáblíková won seven Olympic medals in her career, three times even the gold medal. The two are teammates – Zdráhalová was also a participant for the Czech Republic at the Olympic Games in 2018.
The athlete’s Instagram contribution immediately attracted enormous attention-within a few hours, fans reacted with over 60,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Several people from the Czech show business also expressed their support for the couple. “Enjoy love, joy and time together in happiness and peace,” wrote, for example, the Czech singer Honza Musil. The official profile of the Czech Olympic team also left a red heart in the comment column.
