Martin Visser, economic commentator for De Telegraaf, defends his performance at Malou Petter’s debut in EenVandaag. “I’ve been coming there for twelve years,” he tells TV critic Victor Vlam.
Lately we have heard Malou Petter use every stage to bash her former colleagues from News of the Day. Rancid underbelly television, the presenter thinks afterwards. She is making a new beginning at EenVandaag. Remarkably enough, during her debut in that program on Monday, she interviewed none other than Telegraaf star Martin Visser.
Gagging
Strange for someone who is suddenly so opposed to the Telegraaf tone of News of the Day, says Telegraaf columnist Mark Koster. “Malou Petter, known for many scoops, asks Martin Visser from De Telegraaf about pension plans,” he cynically writes. X.
“Eh? Didn’t she also do that at News of the Day where she ran away gagging? Or does a different studio and different logo at the top of the screen provide the correct ‘context’?”
Farce
TV critic Victor Vlam finds it laughable. “Malou Petter left a Telegraaf program because she could no longer look at herself in the mirror, but in her first broadcast of EenVandaag she is interviewing a Telegraaf guest (Martin Visser). Nobody understands this. It seems like a farce,” he writes. X.
Why is this? “It may be that EenVandaag wants to avoid being seen as too left-wing after Malou’s recent statements.”
‘Nonsense!’
Quote journalist Martijn Zeven thinks Victor is talking nonsense. “What nonsense. Martin Visser has been joining EenVandaag every now and then for years.”
And there Martin Visser closes himself joins: “Dear Victor. I have been coming to EenVandaag as an economic interpreter for 12 years. You are looking for things that are not there.”
