Martin Gore took over vocals for the first time on “Heaven”

Depeche Mode fans enjoyed a special premiere at the band’s concert on Friday (December 15, 2023) in Los Angeles: Martin Gore sang the piece “Heaven” for the first time.

The fact that the piece written by Gore, which was originally released on “Delta Machine” in 2013, was played at all can be seen as a surprise. The last time it was on the setlist was in 2014 – back then sung by Dave Gahan (who also sings the piece on the studio album). On Friday it was played in an acoustic version, with Gore responsible for the vocals.

Arguments in the audience

The concert in the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles was also quite eventful in other ways. The band had to interrupt the song “Never Let Me Down”, which is considered their brotherhood anthem. The reason for this: Singer Dave Gahan apparently had to settle an argument in the audience. The band’s set included 23 tracks – starting with the opener “My Cosmos is Mine”, the set closer “Enjoy The Silence” and a four-song encore consisting of “Waiting For The Night”, “Just Can’t Get Enough”. “, “Never Let Me Down Again” and “Personal Jesus”.
