Martijn Krabbé is the exception that confirms TV rule: ‘Relief’

Most new TV shows lose viewers after the first episode, but Martijn Krabbé’s Race Across the World is the exception that proves the rule. “This is a relief.”

After ten months, Martijn Krabbé returned to the screen last week, but the viewing figures of his new show Race Across the World were a bit disappointing with 776 thousand viewers (15 percent market share). The program therefore had an unfortunate start date, namely on the day of the provincial elections.

Martin is growing

However, Race Across the World seems to have looked back well, because the second episode came out last night at 887 thousand viewers (18 percent), which means that Martijn has achieved good growth.

Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp: “What a relief for RTL 4, because the figures of Race Across the World have risen. After a rough start for the total score and the clumsy programming compared to last week’s election exit polls, more than 100,000 people are now watching.”

Huge ratings hit

The commercial target group also scored very well, says Tina. It achieved almost 25 percent market share. “RTL 4 wins the 8.30 pm time slot with this. This program seems to be growing into a major viewing hit and would have been if it had started this week (little competition).”

She follows up on her analysis channel: “Well, this is still coming along nicely. Who remembers that Heel Holland Bakt once also started with 660 thousand viewers?”

Beau in the elevator

Beau van Erven Dorens immediately attracted 671 thousand viewers (19 percent) with his talk show Beau. With that, he fell just outside the top 15 viewing figure. Still, Tina is positive.

Tina: “In terms of viewing figures, Beau is doing a lot better than Jinek last week. Not only in the totals, but also in 20 to 54 years. Beau scores around 20 percent for the third day in a row. Yesterday even almost 23 percent.”
