In his new book, Martien Meiland publishes an app conversation with John de Mol, in which the reality star demands that Rob Kemps be kept out of Who of the Three. “Not good!”
The retiring Meilandjes are quite candid in their latest book, in which they look back on their years of TV adventure. For example, Martien Meiland opens a book about Who of the Three, in which he is one of the panel members. Last year, Najib Amhali and Raven van Dorst left the program, and Rob Kemps was in the picture as a potential replacement.
‘No Rob please!’
Martien thought this was so bad that he sent John de Mol an app. It is also in the book: “Good morning John, normally I don’t text you, but René is on holiday. I heard that Rob Kemps will be on the panel of Who of the Three. My feeling says that adding him is not good for the program.”
John then replies: “Good morning Martien, I am going to discuss this with Frans and ask Frans to call you about this.”
No call was made, but in the end the Flemish James Cooke and Gert Verhulst became the new panel members.
“What do you mean you do this?”
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden thinks it is ridiculous that the Meilandjes are making this public. “Why do you publish this in your book? I find that very strange. It is also a step down, I think, from Rob Kemps. What did he do to deserve that?” he says in a video on the Telegraaf site.
“Well, that monkey comes out of nowhere in this book, because Erica says: ‘I find it very strange that Rob left his wife at the time, just after she had given birth to a second child and that he ran off with his backup dancer. That is also the reason why I don’t really like watching him.’ So there’s just some resentment.”
‘Very ironic’
Lame, Jordi thinks. “On the one hand, they write a whole chapter in the book about the media. They think that we as the media have all written things about them that are not true at all and now they base their opinion of Rob on something that they have read in the media and have not checked. I find that ironic.”
What is also ironic is that Erica herself had a husband who left their family. Who? Her oh so beloved Martien. He was busy having parking lot sex with other men. “I was 40 when I came out of the closet and wanted to discover all that,” he admitted.
What does Rob think?
What does Rob think of the sneer? He responds The Telegraph: “Unlike Martien, I never say anything about confidential conversations I have had with my employer.”
He continues: “The only thing I can say is that I think Martien Meiland is a phenomenon. I also know that he was the one who took the initiative to bring Wie of the three back on the air. So I understand that he is careful with his child.”
‘Don’t know anymore’
Rob is still open to Who of the Three. “I had conversations about many programs at the time. I don’t remember whether that was also about Who of the three. However, I think I would be a nice addition. If Gert Verhulst stops, Martien knows that John de Mol has my number.”
Jordi concludes: “A sporty reaction from Rob, but I think it’s a bit silly to kick Rob like that. I mean: what else has he had to do with the Meilandjes? It feels like they wanted to fill their book a bit.”
