There is always a lot of arguing and fuss surrounding the Meilandjes, so it cannot be otherwise than that Martien, Erica and Maxime are quite difficult people. The exiled house friend Caroline van Eeden is now literally opening up a book about the TV family. Although she seems somewhat hysterical, there does seem to be a grain of truth in her complaint.

Broken Caroline

Caroline feels betrayed by the trio, but that’s not all. “I had become terrified of Maxime and Erica. For six months they had manipulated, harassed and tormented me to the point where I was mentally and physically broken. Literally broken,” she writes in her new book.

She just feels mutilated. “There was nothing left of the confident, optimistic and cheerful Caroline who always lived in the moment. I realize these are heavy words, but it was just mental abuse.”

“Hahahahaha!”

Martien Meiland responds Show news laconically to the accusations. “Hahahahaha. Mental abuse? Well, I find that so hilarious! Yes, that really makes me laugh, yes.”

He thinks it’s all bullsh*t. “No, I haven’t read the book and I’m really not going to read the book. No, I think that’s such a waste of my time. I have other things to do in that busy boarding house. I already know everything about the Meiland family and I actually already know everything about Mrs. Van Eeden.”

Licking men

Caroline comes up with the strangest stories about Martien, such as: “After closing time we usually had a drink in the Rosser and in no time Martien was climbing on the bar to lick random men’s faces.”

Martien shrugs it off. Also about how she is angry that she did not receive an invitation to his book presentation. “Why should I invite Caroline to a book presentation? We had no contact with each other at all at that time, so, no. What should I do with that woman at a book presentation? Leave me alone. Yes…”
