Marseille crashed hard in the run-up to duel with Feyenoord: Peter Bosz with Lyon far too strong | Foreign football

with videoOlympique Marseille is going with an unpleasant feeling towards the return against Feyenoord next Thursday, when the French superpower has to make up for the 3-2 defeat. The team of coach Jorge Sampaoli lost 0-3 to Olympique Lyon, the club of trainer Peter Bosz, tonight in the Stade Vélodrome.

Where Arne Slot opted for the same starting eleven against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday afternoon against Fortuna Sittard as on Thursday evening in the Kuip, Sampaoli did change his team in places. Pau López, Pol Lirola, Sead Kolašinac, Pape Gueye, Cengiz Ünder and Arek Milik played. Compared to Thursday, Steve Mandanda, Valentin Rongier, Luan Peres, Mattéo Guendouzi, Cédric Bakambu and Bamba Dieng disappeared from the starting line-up. Star player Dimitri Payet was at the kick-off and stayed the entire game.

In the first half, former Ajax striker Arek Milik missed a great opportunity on behalf of Marseille, but shots on goal were not scored on either side in the first half. Ten minutes after the break Lyon took the lead. A free kick from left back Emerson Palmieri came to a stop in front of the goal, after which defender Castello Lukeba was able to make the 0-1 from close range.

With a handsome header, striker Moussa Dembélé made the 0-2 for Lyon fifteen minutes before the end. It got even better for Peter Bosz, because in the 88th minute Karl Toko Ekambi even made it 0-3.

Marseille are second in Ligue 1 with 65 points after 35 matches. With three rounds to go, Stade Rennais and AS Monaco are now only three points behind Marseille. The numbers 1 and 2 of France go directly into the Champions League, the number 3 plays the play-offs.

Olympique Lyon is now seventh in Ligue 1 and can still hope for fifth place, which would mean a place in the Conference League for Bosz’s team.
