Eintracht Frankfurt’s goal guarantor Omar Marmoush was the shooting star of the Bundesliga first half of the season. A German football institution rates the Egyptian very high, but a storm expert disagrees. Omar Marmoush has played 24 competitive games in the Bundesliga, Europa League and DFB Cup for Eintracht Frankfurt so far in the 2024/25 season. The attacker’s haul is impressive: 31 soccer points, 18 goals, 13 assists. In between, the 25-year-old also delighted the fans with beautiful free-kick goals in the best Thomas Häßler style. It’s no wonder that the “kicker” Marmoush is at the top of his “German football rankings” in the storm category and awards the title “world class”. Only Bayern star Harry Kane is ahead of Frankfurt in the legendary ranking. In the summer, the “kicker” jurors saw Marmoush in 10th place in the “national class”. However, expert Benjamin Lauth does not entirely agree with Marmoush’s ennobling. The long-time Bundesliga striker wrote for the specialist magazine that he would “not place the SGE star in the world class department for the time being”. “He has been performing at the highest level for a while – but not yet so consistently. In the last few weeks, Marmoush has weakened, as has Frankfurt in general,” said Lauth. What the former 60s player means: Marmoush started December appropriately with a brace against Heidenheim. After that, he didn’t score a goal in the three league games against Augsburg (2:2), Leipzig (1:2) and Mainz (1:3). He only managed an assist against FCA. Lauth has no objection to the placement of Marmoush. “For me, he belongs in second place just as clearly as Kane at the top.” He also “absolutely trusts the Egyptian to take the next step.
