Markus Weinzierl takes over 1. FC Nuremberg – successor to Robert Klauss

What a downgrade. Consider Klauss a very talented coach, while Weinzierl was unsuccessful anywhere except in his early days at Regensburg and Augsburg. I think that Krauss’ departure to Schalke is the reason for the disappointing Nuremberg season so far. It’s better to stick with Klauss instead of getting a fireman now…

And the fact that in Augsburg, despite relegation, very few were unhappy that MW went / was, does not speak for the art of playing under him. This is very conservative but unbearable. Last season there were zero rehearsed attacks. You saw a lot more moves under Maassen in just a few weeks.

With regard to his departure at the time, I was unsure whether he would still find a job in professional football with this kindergarten. Apparently yes, but in the league that corresponds at most to his abilities (in 2022). He was good in his early days but football has evolved and apparently MW haven’t. Would surprise me if he gets the club back on track.
