The German football coach Markus Gisdol is leaving his Russian employer Lokomotiv Moscow. The reason for the surprising step is probably the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

Markus Gisdol is no longer the coach of the Russian first division club Lokomotiv Moscow with immediate effect. In a short club announcement, the club writes that the German coach has been fired. It is not yet known whether that is true or whether Gisdol resigned voluntarily because of the Russian war of aggression.

Gisdol’s successor in Moscow will be an old acquaintance from the Bundesliga: Marvin Compper is supposed to prepare the team for the upcoming championship games.
