Marks & Spencer hires new womenswear director

British retail group Marks & Spencer has appointed Maddy Evans as its new director for womenswear. Evans will take up the position in July, replacing Jill Stanton, who is leaving the company after four years.

Marks & Spencer recognized Stanton for her “pioneer role” in transforming the range of womenswear, children’s fashion and cosmetics, making the range “more modern, stylish and relevant”.

Future Womenswear Director Evans joined Marks & Spencer in late 2019 as Womenswear Purchasing Director. The company recognized their role in driving the growth of top categories such as denim. Before Evans joined Marks & Spencer, she worked for the British fashion company Topshop-Topman for ten years, most recently as Fashion Director between 2015 and 2019.

In her new role at Marks & Spencer, Evans will focus exclusively on womenswear, unlike her predecessor Stanton, who was also responsible for kidswear and beauty.

Kidswear will now report to Wes Woodhouse who is currently Director of Menswear while Beauty will report to Heidi Woodhouse who is currently Director of Homes.
