Member of Parliament of SDP For Marko Aselli has been awarded the Golden Cross of Merit for Exercise and Sports. The Minister of Sports, Sports and Youth Mika Poutala awarded eight golden crosses of merit this year.
Crosses of Merit are awarded annually to persons who have distinguished themselves in Finnish sports culture and sports.
The state sports council under the Ministry of Education and Culture, of which Asell is a member, had applied for a merit badge for Asell.
Other recipients of the Golden Cross of Merit were Timo Heinonen, Teemu Japisson, Pertti Juhani Laanti, Markku Lainevirta, Petri Lehtoranta, Mika Palmgren and Heikki Tikkanen.
Harassment noise
Former top wrestler and 1996 Olympic silver medalist Marko Asell has been in the middle of harassment for the beginning of the year. Asell has been reported to have inappropriately touched an SDP assistant on the dance floor of the karaoke restaurant Ihku during the continuation of the parliament’s Christmas parties in November.
At the beginning of February, the chairman of the parliamentary group Tytti Tuppurainen told the Ukkola program that he had a serious discussion with Aselli on the subject.
– This is a penalty. It is quite a lot in politics that the chairman of the group talks to the member of parliament and requires that this kind of activity cannot continue, Tuppurainen said the journalist Sanna Ukkolalle.
