Marko Arnautović reminded his former trainer Sinisa Mihajlović as a new addition to Red Stern Belgrade. The 36-year-old said that when I moved to the Serbian top club, he had made a personal promise. Former Serbian national coach Mihajlović died of leukemia in December 2022.

For Arnautović, Red Star is the eighth station of his professional career. Most recently, the former Bremer was active for Inter Milan for two years. The Italian club had not extended its contract.

Under Mihajlović, Arnautović, who, in addition to Austrian, also has Serbian nationality, played at Bologna. “He was like a brother and father for me. He meant everything to me,” said Arnautović. He also talked to the family of his late mentor about the change – and received great support there: “You were very happy for me.”
