Super League update

There is a change at the top of the most valuable players in the Swiss Super League. In the market value update, Alvyn Sanches from BSC Young Boys, who was previously in second place, moves to the top, while the previous leader, Mattia Zanotti from FC Lugano, is the biggest loser. The top winner is a former talent from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Winsley Boteli, who is still on loan from the Fohlen to FC Sion, but who in turn has already activated the purchase option, climbs by a whopping 4 million to 5 million euros. An increase of 400 percent. However, it is unlikely that the 19-year-old center forward will remain in Sitten despite being signed for €3.5 million. According to reports, he is about to move abroad. This is also why its market value is increasing so rapidly.
There is also a significant increase for the Basel trio Metinho (to 8 million), Flavius Daniliuc (to 5 million) and Giacomo Koloto (to 3 million) as well as for Franz-Ethan Meichtry (to 5 million) from the surprise champions FC Thun, all of whom have increased by 2 million euros. The latter has already attracted interest from the top 5 leagues due to his performance, including TSG Hoffenheim, and is now the sole most valuable player in the champions. In 35 games, the central midfielder managed eight goals and three assists.
Daniliuc, who once played for FC Bayern in his youth, is now slowly approaching his previous best value of 8 million euros. After the second plus in a row, the book is currently worth 5 million euros – it was last worth that much in October 2024. The three-time Austrian national player deserves the upgrade because he has become one of the best defenders in the league in the past few months.
There is a slight upward adjustment for Alessandro Vogt before his move from FC St. Gallen to TSG Hoffenheim in the summer. Instead of 7 million euros, the center forward is now valued at 8 million euros. The 21-year-old was no longer as dangerous in the spring as he was in the fall, but he led the FCSG to runner-up and the cup title. In total he scored 15 goals, which meant he was tied for third place in the top scorers list.
Sanches is also increased in value by 1 million to 10 million euros, which puts him at the top of the market value table in Switzerland. The attacking midfielder was out for a long time due to a torn cruciate ligament, but after his serious injury he had a good spring and recorded 16 scorers in 28 appearances in the Super League.
Market values Super League: Zanotti loses lead – next loss for Duranville
The former leader Zanotti, on the other hand, lost first place and is now part of a quartet in second place. With a loss of 2 million to 8 million euros, the 23-year-old is the biggest loser of the update. The reason for the devaluation is that all the rumors surrounding him involve a seven-figure transfer fee, which is why his eight-figure market value had to be revised downwards.
The market value curve for Borussia Dortmund’s loanee Julien Duranville is also pointing downwards. The winger, who has played 16 games (two goals, one assist) for FC Basel since January, drops from 7 million to 6 million euros after only mediocre performances in an already weak Basel team. It is the third loss in a row. The Belgian still has a contract at BVB until 2028, but doesn’t seem to have a future there. There was recently a rumor about AC Monza, which is said to have submitted a written offer worth around 1.5 million euros. However, this was not enough for Dortmund after they had once paid 8.5 million euros for the 20-year-old. Strasbourg Alsace was also considered an interested party.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
