Naderi continues to rise

In the Scottish Premiership market value update, Glasgow Rangers, who are thriving under German coach Danny Röhl, are the big winners with an increase of 15.8 million euros. Arch-rival Celtic Glasgow, on the other hand, only recorded an increase of 2.8 million euros, despite having the biggest winner and now the most valuable footballer in Scotland in former Augsburg player Arne Engels.
With an increase of 8 million to 18 million euros, the Belgian overtakes Tottenham loanee and Rangers professional Mikey Moore, who is still valued at 16 million euros. The central midfielder scored five goals and seven assists in 38 games across all competitions. However, the appreciation is not solely due to his performance.
“Arne Engels has developed well at Celtic, but without standing out as a clear star of the team. What has driven up his market value above all is the concrete interest from other clubs. His profile as a young Belgian with strong physical qualities may also play a role, which makes him particularly interesting for top European leagues. In January, Nottingham is said to have made an offer of 27 million euros. Celtic rejected the offer, but Engels is likely to leave the club for more than that in the summer 20 million euros,” says Stefan Bienkowski, Area Manager UK at Transfermarkt. Celtic coach Martin O’Neill recently said: “It’s really a lot of money. Personally, I’m very happy that the board rejected the offer.”
After the December update, in which the Glasgow rivals emerged as big losers, Celtic continue to stand still both in terms of sport and market value. The Rangers, on the other hand, pulled themselves out of the slump. Coach Röhl played a big part in this. Since he took office in October, the Light Blues have scored an average of 1.93 points per game, and in the Premiership the Rangers only suffered one defeat against leaders Heart of Midlothian. The gap to the surprise team from Edinburgh has shrunk from 13 to six points. Röhl’s team occupies second place in the table, closely followed by Celtic and Motherwell.
Naderi is also among the biggest market value winners in the Scotland update
Hansi Flick’s long-time assistant managed to create a mood of optimism out of the ongoing sadness. The current good condition is also reflected in the market values - especially for central defender Emmanuel Fernandez, who will receive an increase of 7.5 million to 9 million euros. This means that the Englishman has the second largest increase behind Engels, and he is also one of four Rangers professionals in the top 10 winners of the update.
The quartet also includes Ryan Naderi, who moved from Hansa Rostock to the Rangers in the winter. The German striker, who was signed for 5.5 million euros and is therefore the most expensive third division departure in history, goes up by 3.3 million to 4.5 million euros.
His new market value is also not just due to his performances, Bienkowski notes: “Not much can be said about Naderi yet, as his time in Scotland has only just begun. However, when he was in the starting line-up for Rangers, he knew how to impress – especially with his two assists in the important 4-2 win against Hearts. He could prove to be a more consistent goalscorer at the Ibrox club, especially since his strike colleague Youssef Chermiti has so far mainly been in the big ones “Naderi’s increase in market value is primarily due to the transfer fee that Rangers paid for him in January – but it was ultimately higher than expected. The club clearly sees great potential in the young attacker.”
Among the six German players in the Scottish Premiership, alongside Naderi, former Bochum and Dortmund player Felix Passlack is the only one whose market value will also be adjusted. The new addition from Hibernian will be devalued by 300,000 to 700,000 euros.
Celtic are prominently featured among the biggest losers in the update – eight times in the top 10. At the top is central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, for whom the price drops by 3 million to 10 million euros. The two Japanese players Daizen Maeda (12 million euros) and Reo Hatate (10 million euros) follow with a loss of 2 million euros each. This also includes Rangers attacker and Wolfsburg loanee Andreas Skov Olsen (8 million euros). Junior Adamu (4 million euros), who was loaned to Celtic by SC Freiburg, also lost 1 million euros.
Despite Celtic’s mixed season, attacker Benjamin Nygren (10 million euros) can look forward to the third-largest increase thanks to his new finishing qualities. The second best goalscorer in the league, like his pursuer Cláudio Braga (6 million euros) from Hearts, increased by 3.5 million euros. Leader Tawanda Maswanhise (€3.5 million) from Motherwell is also one of the biggest winners with an increase of 400 percent.
The squad value ranking is still led by Celtic with almost 146 million euros. However, the Rangers reduce the gap to around 23 million euros. League leaders Heart of Midlothian (27.8 million euros) increased by a further almost 6 million euros, making them the most valuable Scottish club after the big Glasgow clubs. Motherwell, in fourth place in the table, had the largest percentage increase. The team around top scorer Maswanhise increased by an impressive 79 percent to 14.5 million euros.
