There are 85 new market values in the Romanian super league and the biggest minus goes to the new star of the league: Kurt Zouma is devalued from 10 million to 8 million euros. The French central defender switched from West Ham United to the currently stubborn runner -up CFR Cluj and, with his old market value, was worth more than the squad of eight other first division clubs. With a content of around a million euros, he is not only the most valuable, but also the best paid player in Romania.
In 2021, West Ham Zouma signed for 35 million euros from Chelsea, until 2024 he was a regular before lending him to Al-Orobah FC to Saudi Arabia last season, where he could not prevent the descent. The bottom line is the next transfer for him that led him to a weaker league.
The performance and market value curve of right-wing ștefan Baiaram, which Universitea Craiova has scored three goals in six qualifying games into the Conference League, is pointing upwards. For his training club, the 22-year-old made his debut in the first division at the age of 16 and, together with his first nomination for the Romanian national team, secured an upgrading from 2 million to 3 million euros. In doing so, he takes eighth place in the league ranking of the most valuable player.
Nicolae Catalin Cimpian, Area Manager of Transfer market Romania, knows: “Recently, Craiova declined an offer of 4 million euros from Istanbul Basaksehir – Baiaram convinced against the Turks in the successful qualification round. On November 27th you will be able to see him in Conference League against Mainz 05.” Craiova leads the Superliga after ten match days with 23 points (to the table).
About left -back Andrei Borza, for whom 2 million euros, says Cimpian: “The talent of FC Rapid is one of the most promising young Romanian footballers. This summer his name was associated with Ajax Amsterdam and Genoa.” With its new market value, Borza confirms his position as the most valuable Romanian U21 professional.
No devaluations despite the bad start of the season for FCSB
There are also large upgrades for the surprise clubs of the previous season FC Botosani and FC Arges, who take second and fifth place. The squad value of promoted Arges climbs by 800,000 to EUR 7.8 million, while Botosani increases from 9.2 million to EUR 10.5 million. For comparison: ZOUMA arrived in Romania with a market value of 8 million euros.
The most valuable squad of the league is presenting champion FCSB from Bucharest with 48.4 million euros before Cluj – FC St. Pauli is rated at 51.8 million euros. “There are no devaluations in the squad because the team managed to maintain their image thanks to the qualification for the Europa League,” explains Romania expert Cimpian the status quo.
