The Regionalliga West started the second half of the season at the beginning of December and numerous footballers were adjusted as part of the market value updates on Transfermarkt. The two biggest winners wear the jersey of the second representative of Borussia Mönchengladbach, third division relegated and league leader MSV Duisburg recorded the highest devaluation.

The VfL talents Noah Pesch (19) and Charles Herrmann (18) receive their first market value of 300,000 euros. U17 world champion Herrmann was involved in six goals in 18 appearances and is a regular in his first senior season. His teammate Pesch is the best scorer in the Regionalliga West with 13 goals and seven assists and has already been in the Bundesliga squad once. The most valuable player in the league is teammate Winsley Boteli (18), who is valued at 500,000 euros. Simon Walde (19), who also plays for the Foals, is considered a promising talent, but has not yet been able to complete a minute due to an ankle injury and will be devalued by 100,000 to 400,000 euros.

Only Pius Krätschmer (27) from Eintracht Hohkeppel and Luis Hartwig (22) from MSV Duisburg received a greater devaluation than Walde. After a loss of 150,000, Krätschmer is now at 200,000 euros and Hartwig’s value has halved to 150,000 euros. The attacker joined the Zebras from KV Oostende before the season, but has only played 133 minutes in the league and has to be content with a role on the bench.

MSV is the big loser of the update. Despite being at the top of the table, the third division relegated team will lose 230,000 euros. Nevertheless, coach Dietmar Hirsch’s team is the most valuable in the league with a squad value of 3.33 million euros. The biggest plus is for Sportfreunde Lotte, who almost doubled their squad value from 920,000 to 1.9 million euros.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
