Market values Regionalliga Südwest: Minus for Sascha Mölders & Philipp Hosiner

interim update

In the course of the interim updates in all leagues, the market values were also updated in the Regionalliga Südwest. In addition to leaders SSV Ulm, SV Elversberg, Kickers Offenbach and TSV Steinbach Haiger are currently fighting in a tight four-way battle for promotion to the 3rd division, with the lead in the table changing almost every matchday. Most other clubs are also in the process of reaching their goals for the season, with the result that a large proportion of the changes will come from newcomers or those who have passed the peak of their careers.

The most prominent transfer in the winter was Sascha Mölders, who switched from TSV 1860 Munich to the “village club” SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. In the dual role of player and assistant coach, his job is to stay up with his new team. Due to the sporting relegation from the third to the fourth division, the striker loses 25,000 euros and is now valued at 125,000 euros. The same fate is suffered by Manuel Konrad, who also joined the “Village Club” in the winter after playing in Malaysia until December. Coupled with his age and an injury, the defensive midfielder’s market value has been reduced by €50,000-100,000.

Other prominent newcomers to the Regionalliga Südwest were Cas Peters and Marcel Heller at FSV Frankfurt and Phillipp Hosiner at Offenbacher Kickers. While Peters is a former Eredivisie professional, Heller has 123 Bundesliga games and a further 131 games in the 2nd Bundesliga on his CV. After six months without a club, both players switched to the regional league and were consequently devalued by EUR 50,000 to EUR 175,000 (Peters) and EUR 75,000 to EUR 125,000 (Heller).

Hosiner was one of the key players that led Dynamo Dresden to the third division championship last season. At the beginning of the new season, the center forward lost contact with the Saxons and only played 256 minutes. In winter he made his way to Kickers Offenbach and after the Austrian championship he wants to follow up with another title with Austria Wien (2013). In terms of market value, it goes down from 300,000 to 225,000 euros.

The youngsters of the league are primarily on the side of the winners. Ben Bobzien from FSV Mainz 05 II receives his first market value of 250,000 euros and ranks seventh in the league. In addition to three squad appointments in the Bundesliga, the right winger recently caused a sensation in the U19 national team when the 18-year-old scored two goals against Belgium.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
