Market values Ekstraklasa: German quartet around Lukas Podolski loses

Intermediate update in Ekstraklasa

Transfermarkt.pl the Ekstraklasa underwent an interim update after the start of the season and in the course of this updated the market values of 335 players – which leads to a new leader in the ranking. Goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic (24) from cup winner and runner-up Rakow Czestochowa replaces his teammate Ivi López (28) as the most valuable player in the Polish upper house.

Kovacevic is the biggest winner of the update. The Bosnian confirmed his good performances from last season this season, keeping seven clean sheets in ten games. The international goalkeeper, who extended his contract until 2026 in July, has long been the focus of international clubs. Benfica Lisbon, for example, is said to have shown interest in Kovacevic in the summer, whose market value has increased from 3 million to 5 million euros. Offensive player López is further valued at 4 million euros.

While ex-Bundesliga professional Mikael Ishak (3 million euros), who continues to prove his goalscoring qualities with ten goals in 15 games for Lech Poznan, remains in the top 3, his teammate João Amaral (31 ) the biggest loser of the update. The offensive man from Portugal has not been able to build on the strong previous season and lost his regular place. For Amaral it goes down by 1 million to 2 million euros.

Four of the nine German legionnaires in the Ekstraklasa have also received a new market value – all of them have been devalued. Best-known name: Lukas Podolski (37). The ex-DFB striker, who is active for Górnik Zabrze, has been downgraded from 400,000 to 300,000 euros due to his age. Slask Wroclaw’s Dennis Jastrzembski (22; 800,000 to 550,000 euros) and the duo Marco Terrazzino (31; 550,000 to 300,000 euros) and Christian Clemens (31; 500,000 to 300,000 euros) from Lechia Gdansk have to accept even greater devaluations.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
