Mark de Vries remains faithful to VV Alkmaar and extends contract for one year

Mark de Vries will also be the trainer of VV Alkmaar next season. The team that plays in the Women’s Eredivisie would like to continue longer with the trainer born in Den Helder. The former professional of FC Volendam and SC Cambuur will therefore also be at the helm next season.

VV Alkmaar finished eighth in the Women’s Eredivisie this season. In the KNVB Cup, the eighth final was the end station, after losing 5-6 to Heerenveen in extra time. De Vries has been head coach at VV Alkmaar since last summer.

Automatisms

On the club’s website, De Vries says that he looks back on his first year in Alkmaar with mixed feelings. “It has been a very nice year for us, with ups and downs,” said De Vries. “We have played 4-3-3 as standard. As a result, more and more automatisms grew in the girls. We only missed a victory against one of the top clubs in the group, but we have really made progress in football.”
